Celebrities joined Zac Posen to celebrate the launch of his new line for Target in New York April 15.
“We live in the souk! Listen, this is my quote for the night — we live in the souk. We work, we play, we create, we pay, we get paid. It’s all part of the hustle and bustle that builds our country, and it starts in New York.”, said Zac Posen
The fashion designer was joined by Maggie Gyllenhaal, Claire Danes, Selma Blair, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Olivia Palermo and Ginnifer Goodwin, models Alek Wek, Coco Rocha and others.
All of celebrities were dressed in pieces from Zac’s fashion range for the US retailer’s Go International line.
“I haven’t shopped at Target for myself, but I would now,” said Selma Blair.
Ginnifer Goodwin claimed to be more of a Target veteran:
“Target’s kind of my go-to for everything, to be honest. Toilet paper, Zac Posen, everything.”
This collection marks a series of firsts for Target, including a women’s tuxedo ($50 for the jacket and $40 for the pants) and a gown ($60).
The materials are surprisingly luxe and the pieces are heavy on accoutrements — a heavy floral brocade skirt with an exposed back zipper is just $50, while the floral gown is made from a chiffon blend. A strapless party dress ($80 in black or red) comes with a removable poufy tutu skirt, and a fitted navy dress with snap and open lattice detail ($70) is perfect for cocktails at Kenmare — or shopping at Kmart.
“I’m ready for the next challenge: to dress a lot more kinds of women, especially at this price point,” Posen says. “We’ll see the demand and we’ll see if I can create at this price point or lower. It’s the wave of the future.”
