Twilight Fashion

The much-anticipated Twilight movie—based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer—will bring the enthralling love story of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) to the big screen. With expectations high, costume designer Wendy Chuck took on the challenge of giving the characters the right look in the film.

My inspiration came mostly from the book and I tried to recreate in my minds eye what I saw when I read it,” she says. Their looks, because of the budget for the film are all from a mix of stores like Loehmann’s, Nordstrom Rack, Internet outlets and local Portland, OR, shops. “The only high-end item was Edward’s Gucci jacket for the prom,” she says.

A peak into Forks High School reveals Emmett (Kellan Lutz), Rosalie (Nikki Reed), Alice (Ashley Greene) and Jasper (Jackson Rathbone) as perpetual teenagers trying to fit in despite their unique beauty and mysterious connection with each other.

“Alice is the kooky, artistic one in the book so there’s a lot that’s inspired by vintage,” says Chuck. “I used a lot from G-Star for Jasper, he’s wearing a G-star jacket and Levi’s and always has Western boots on.”

  1. I’m a little surprised that they didn’t have more of a budget for this movie. Twilight has been hyped up on tv and the book series finished recently. That being said, from the look of it, they did a great job with what they had.

  2. I thought Wendy did a fantastic job with putting the outfits together. They match in the book how the Cullen family has lots of money for realy good clothing and it fits my imagination on how i pictured it while i was reading the book except they ended-up looking way better than i expected. Everything that Wendy had done to Kristen, Robert, Kellan, Nikki, Ashley, Jackson, and everyone else she had worked with (through my eyes) was perfect! I thank her for helping them make the movie as brilliant as it was! I should know, I saw it twice and im going to see it again! bye =)
