Tights Autumn/Winter trends for 2008/09
1- Sheer genius
From nowhere sheer black tights have emerged as a key trend for winter at Anna Sui, Oscar De La Renta, Chanel, Emma Cook, Lanvin and Giles. They have been appearing alongside the more predictable black opaques, which are here this season in a deliciously shiny, glossy style as shown at Alberta Ferretti and Amanda Wakeley.
2- Step into a world of color
Bright colors are also a key theme for legs this Autumn/Winter. Whether it’s sheer colored tights at Ioannisdimitrousis and Richard Nicoll, or bold, bright opaque colors at Basso & Brooke, Eley Kishimoto, Pucci, John Galliano, Jasper Conran, Moschino, and Sonia Rykiel. There were also muted brights at Luella and Proenza Schouler – a pair of colored tights is this seasons must have wardrobe accessory.

3- Patterns to turn heads
There’s a wide variety of patterned tights being shown on the catwalk this season, and the more outrageous the better. D&G showed us tartan tights, Anna Sui, Chanel, Emma Cook, Rodnik, Philosophy, Paul Smith and Emporio Armani introduced the trend for pattern, from little polka dots, to swirly patterns and leafy designs. Pretty embellishments like sequins were sewed on to knees and down calves at Betty Jackson and Bora Aksu. Whilst python print tights stood out at Jaeger London and leopard and flamingo prints prevailed at Just Cavalli.
4- Add a splash of burgundy
Burgundy and maroon are the new charcoal grey. As shown this season at Bottega Veneta and Caroline Charles. Chocolate brown also makes a comeback at Ben de Lisi, Biba, D&G, Celine and Paul Costelloe. Grey isn’t over, it’s still with us in a paler more silvery shade at Celine, DKNY and Dolce and Gabanna.

5- Net yourself a new look
The Goth trends for lacy and fishnet tights are going to be huge this season. Fishnets have been off the fashion radar, but this year Rodarte, Baby Phat, D Squared and Emma Cook helped to mark their return to style.
