Tips how to flatter your figure

September 11, 2009 at 12:25 am (Fashion) (, , , , )

We can’t all be blessed with a perfect figure. However, we can wear clothes that emphasize our good points and disguise our so called bad points.

super figure

Two woman with identical bodies can look dramatically different in both size and shape simply because of the clothes they’re wearing. But how can you make the most of your body? Check out these rules to make your figure look fabulous…

1. Use light and dark colours to make your body appear more in proportion.

For example a woman with big hips and a small bust should wear slimming dark trousers or skirt and size creating light colours up top. This two pronged attack can make a huge difference to how you body looks.

2. Use horizontal and vertical stripes to widen and lengthen.

For example if you’re overweight, never wear clothes with stripes going across. This will make you seem even bigger than you are. Instead try to wear clothes with stripes going down. This will make you seem taller and as a result less dumpy.

3. Use bright colours or patterns to draw attention away from problem areas.

For example if you have a bum the size of a small country, wear a colourful or patterned top. This will help keep eyes away from your oversized natural cushion.

4. Stay away from tapered legged trousers.

Unless you have great thighs and buttocks, trousers that come in at the bottom will make you seem much fatter than you are. Trousers which are wide at the bottom will make your legs seem thinner and longer, hence the popularity of flared bottomed jeans.

5. Use scarves and pashmenas to hide, cover and emphasize.

For example a scarf around you neck will draw attention to your upper body. This can be ideal if you’re particularly heavy lower down.

6. Don’t wear clothes that are too small for you.

Fat spilling over the sides of tops and trousers is not a good look. It doesn’t make you look thinner and it definitely isn’t attractive. If you are in between sizes buy the bigger one and have it altered to fit.

7. Heels

They can make your legs look considerably longer, your bum considerably smaller and your overall appearance considerably better. They’re not for every occasion but a woman without a great pair of heels in her wardrobe is missing out on the best figure flatterer around.

Smokey Eyes or Smoky Eyes Make-up Tips!

October 21, 2008 at 1:02 am (Fashion) ()

I’ve always adored the smokey eye look. It is so sexy and dramatic, mostly used for the night look. However, if done in lighter shades and not heavy layering, it can still be appropriate for the day.

Like yourself,  I have searched the net for hours when trying to learn on how to get the smokey eye look. Found tons of video tutorials and read many instructions on how to create the look. Many of them were way too long and complicated, stating that you need about 20 make up tools to create the look. Obviously, it’s quite useful to have all those tools and colors, however, you can still create the same look by using your basic brushes, sponges, and colors. What I decided to do is create a 3 minute easy-breezy tutorial, that will create the perfect smokey eye look that can be used by make up challenged people such as myself! He-he

You are going to need:

1.    Foundation or as make up artist like to call it a primer
2.    At least 2 eyeshadow colors. I used gray and black ( they were both sparkly and not matt)
3.    Black eye pencil
4.    Mascara
5.    Eye shadow sponge or a q-tip
6.    Eye shadow brush

Thick bright eyebrows are Autumn-winter season trend

October 15, 2008 at 1:42 am (Fashion) (, , , , )

Visagistes define new beauty standards of autumn-winter 2008/09 season.

All of them agree in one opinion: this season eyebrows should look as natural, as possible.

Experts advise to copy style of Madonna and Brooke Shields in the mid-eighties trite century. Eyebrows should be wide, bright, dense, you practically do not need pulling them out.

Some stylists suggest even to “tousle” eyebrows slightly and give them additional brightness by means of eye shadow. In their opinion this way eyebrows will seem even more natural.

Dior does 70s style hair and eyes

May 29, 2008 at 7:43 am (Fashion) ()

The Dior catwalk this year was full of seventies trends. We saw windswept tousled hair and massive eyes, in all sorts of retro shades. I love how they’ve made the eyes really pop, even though I’m not sure those geometric shapes would work well every day! The use of hairbands (See below) rings a girly twist to these manes as well.
