Harem Pants – Spring 2009 Trends

February 28, 2009 at 10:19 am (Fashion) ()

hareem pants spring 2009 trends

I know it’s hard to think about the summer when it’s this cold, but I’m trying to stay positive by looking to future trends. The penchant for harem pants has been hanging around in the wings of fashion for a while appearing on the catwalk at Balmain and YSL for Autumn/Winter ‘08 but looks likely to be even bigger in the Spring.

The Aladdin style trousers have already been worn by Naomi Campbell but are soon to be available in brighter shades. They were spotted on the Spring ‘09 catwalk at Alexander McQueen (left), Betsey Johnson (right) and Chloe (center) to name but a few.

The trend has now hit the High Street with great options available for under £50. It’s best to choose a slightly cropped pair as they will be more flattering and team with a tight fitting top or crop top if you’re feeling brave. This exaggerates the volume and balances the shape slightly. See below for some examples available now.

High School Musical 3 Japan Premiere – Vanessa Hudgens

February 25, 2009 at 10:13 am (Fashion) (, , )

After being a big fan of Vanessa Hudgens for a long time, I was very disappointed with her style last year, as it was very inconsistent.

At that High School Musical 3: Senior Year Japan premiere yesterday, she restored my faith by looking stunning wearing a rose coloured Moschino Fall 2001 mini dress covered with flowers.

The colour and style of the dress were incredible flattering on her. It was so refreshing from the darker colours she was wearing last year.

She accessorized with Jimmy Choo peep toe heels, which matched her gorgeous dress, a large chunky ring, and teardrop earrings.

Her locks were styled in a messy updo, with her bangs framing her face.

Whilst she looked stunning Zac Efron, on the other hand, is in desperate need of a hair cut.

Spring 2009 is in the air.

So for all of you who are extremely busy with your own home jewellery businesses I thought some hints on the key trends might be helpful.

As always we must begin with color. There are three important color stories for the season.

The first is black and white.

The new take for this graphic combo is floral. Pretty all over large flowers. What’s really fresh for black and white is taking it in a less slick direction and adding a more textural attitude.

I believe using fabric wrapped beads, printed ceramic, and glass beads from India that are imperfect is a great way to achieve a crisp but natural look for this palette.

Coral and yellow is the warm palette this spring/summer. Look to the continent of India for inspiration.

Use patterned beaded and etched metals to complement your colors. Antique finished on metal, and rose gold platings can really make this theme a bit more directional.

Fashion tips: choosing the right cocktail dress for your figure

February 9, 2009 at 11:17 am (Fashion) (, )

While you can’t go wrong with the quintessential little black dress, you can make the most of your attributes by selecting a cocktail to enhance your figure, detracting the eye from your weak spots, and drawing attention to your assets.
Fashion

You can even use jewelry to draw the eye to the neckline and away from the body entirely. Follow along with our tips for selecting the perfect cocktail dress, regardless of your shape or size. When you’re dressed to kill and you know it, you’re free to relax and enjoy the occasion, spend time making merry with friends rather than wasting energy wondering how you look.

Body Shapes

Determine your body shape, and select colors and styles to suit your general shape and flatter your figure. Then experiment with the tips for each body shape until you find your best look.

Pear

Attributes include a slender and often elongated torso, small bust, with hips and thighs proportionally larger than the torso and waist.

Toss the tight straight skirt in favor of an a-line skirt or empire waistline to de-emphasize the lower half of your body. Add padded shoulders to balance the top and bottom. Select a two-toned dress with the lighter or brighter color above the waist and the darker tone below the waist.

Hour Glass

Attributes include a small bone structure and waistline with bust and hips proportionally larger than the waist: in a word, voluptuous.

De-emphasize your voluptuous, abundant curves by shedding tight-fitting clothing in favor of clothing with a looser, smoother fit. Monotone colors work best by providing a sense of continuity from head to toe. Draw as much attention away from your bust and hips as possible by accessorizing with jewelry high on the neckline. If your clothing is monotone, you can wear flashier earrings as well, which draws attention to the face and away from the body.

Wear sleeves to cover the largest part of the arm. If your lower arms are shapely, you can wear 3/4 sleeves.
