Super (Model) Mommies

May 16, 2008 at 9:51 am (Fashion, News) ()

How many times do we forget that models are people too? It seems that we see them only as those beautiful out-of-this-world perfect amazons …
But yes, models are normal people, they eat, they have feelings & sometimes insecurities, but above all they are women.

Bianca Balti

Linda Evangelista

Cindy Crawford

Christiansen, Isabeli Fontana, Bianca Balti… some of the most beautiful supermodels who conquered every fashion runway and had their beautiful faces plastered on every fashion magazine/ad/billboard worldwide, are also devoted mothers.

Those incredible superwomen were embracing the changes their body went through, coped with a complete life changing blessed situation and still maintained their glorious careers along with a loving family life, still looking amazingly beautiful.  A lot of these stunning moms are still working today; all of them are looking more radiant, happy & much more in peace with themselves than ever. Proving us all that nature finds its way to connect us all through the beauty and spirit of womanhood, of femininity, of creating life.

SPRING BEAUTY: BLUE EYELINER

May 15, 2008 at 1:52 pm (Fashion) ()

Updating your makeup color palette as the seasons change is equally as important as freshening up your wardrobe. To add a little pizzazz to your look this spring, swap your basic eyeliner for a vibrant blue shade. From Betsey Johnson’s runway, to Kate Hudson’s premiere look, it obvious that nothing is as cool as blue.

Kate Hudson January 2008
Hudson complimented her bright royal blue frock at the premiere of her film Fool’s Gold perfectly by adding a hint of blue metallic sparkle to her lower lash line.

The models at the Blugirl show wore a new twist on the classic winged eyeliner style — layered cobalt and electric blue liner!

Shoes and nothing but shoes

May 14, 2008 at 8:39 am (Fashion) (, , )

I was shoe shopping yesterday and caught myself at thinking shoes were more than just footwear for me. Shoes are part of my personality, meaning I choose this or that style depending on what I feel like this or that day.

I can be a bitchy vixen one day and pick some peep toe high heels or pointy shoes, or I can feel like a little girl and pick flats or t-straps, or strappy sandals for a walk round the town. So what mood are you in now?

May 12, 2008 at 2:36 pm (Fashion) ()

The positive influence of sport revitalizes the codes of urban chic. The functional wardrobe, technical fabrics and details with an «active sport» connotation come into play for very cool fashion. Pale neutrals, dirty or refreshed pastels, to mix together, to disrupt with bright and unexpected accents. Scroopy hands, nylons and light cottons. «Cheap silky fabrics», plain weave silk, viscose twills. Shirting, solid and striped poplins, end-and end, oxfords, chambrays. Satins again and again! Fleece, terries, stretch fluid or chiné jerseys. Continuation of knits in bamboo and soybean, and organic cotton.

Met Gala: The Agony and the Ecstasy of the Red Carpet

    May 7, 2008 at 11:21 am (News) ()

This morning feels like the day after prom, except we didn’t just lose our virginity and we’re not dying of hangover (kidding — or are we?). Last night at the Costume Institute gala, the Soirée for the World’s Most Fabulous People in the World’s Most Fabulous Dresses (or, this year, perhaps the Bat-Cave Ball), we worked the red carpet like a street corner on Saturday night. That is to say, we didn’t actually attend. But we already know what happened inside anyway: Victoria Beckham smiled on the down low, everyone was jealous of Katie Holmes’s bob and Gisele’s body, and guests politely picked at their food. And it’s not like the red carpet wasn’t without its humor: Just take Lady Wintour’s alien-walk entrance, for starters.

Ever the dutiful hostess, Anna was the first to arrive at about a quarter till seven with her daughter, Bee Shaffer. Like mother like daughter, the pair arrived wearing complicated (and thus impractical, though if there ever were a night…) gowns. Wintour wore a floor-length silver Chanel Haute Couture number with what looked like puffy antlers attached to the hips. Or maybe they were Princess Leia buns. There was a distinct Star Wars vibe going. She slowly climbed up the empty red-carpeted stairs, gripping the pillowy attachments at her sides as if to help swivel her hips, an act she methodically performed her entire walk up the stairs.

    Celebrity Selling Power

    May 1, 2008 at 9:59 am (Fashion) (, )

Trinny Woodall at the Swarovski Serpentine Gallery Summer Show.Famous celebrities make their mark as fashion early adopters. Whatever Miss Celebrity has, then girls and women want to incorporate into their own fashion persona. Everyone who is interested in looking fashionable, makes an effort now to style themselves with accessories or quirky combinations of clothes. In fact this is what women always did before the dressed down looks of the 90s under the guise of grooming.

Now we say a look is styled, or a person’s look can be improved with a bit of styling. In recent years TV presenters/influencers Trinny Woodall and Susanna Constantine have spouted wardrobe opinions on TV’s ‘What not to Wear’. The TV programme challenges frumps who are locked in a fashion time warp, to a restyling. Over the last decade, the presenters in their turn, have become celebrities.

Alex Perry S-S 08/09 catwalk at RAFW

    May 1, 2008 at 6:34 am (Fashion) ()

Alex Perry was one of the latest designers to grace the runway at RAFW today. As well as his usual breath taking floor-length gowns, he showed a cheekier side with animal print mini-dresses and playful white play-suits. There were plenty of sheer fabrics, tulles, embroideries and bows - as always, it’s all in the detail for Mr. Perry.

The full coverage of the Alex Perry runway show is definitely worth a look - as well as some fabulous backstage shots by Wayne.
